What Film Would I take to the Moon?
The 50th anniversary of Apollo landing on the moon has me interested in researching NASA's use of analog photography during the missions. I take my view camera to relatively extreme areas and conditions, but nothing compared to going to the moon! So if I was going to the moon, what film would I shoot?
I'm a firm believer in familiarity breeds creativity, if I don't have the technical aspects down I'm not free to be creative. So I would have to first consider the film I am most familiar with, which is Kodak TMAX-100. I chose this film many years ago for it's fine grain and broad exposure latitude. For my photography the slow speed is not ideal but not a killer, but on the moon? I'm guessing I would need something faster!
Before TMAX I shot Tri-x 320. I little faster, and quite a bit more grainy, but great tones! This would be a contender to go to the moon
